An anchor of belonging and security – addressing absentee properties and preventing displacement
We operate in partnership with professional experts, institutions, and social coalitions to address housing challenges related to absentee properties, preserve Jaffa’s social fabric, and address historical injustice.
By securing housing stability, we enable communities to grow with dignity and confidence.
The organization is working to develop and implement a practical, agreed-upon framework for enabling residents to purchase homes classified as absentee properties, and has already succeeded in halting evictions of tenants from their homes.
Development of a heritage that will revive the history of Jaffa
Jaffa’s heritage is a rich mosaic of communities, generations, and stories. We believe that only through a deep understanding of Jaffa’s diverse past a genuine partnership will be built.
mutual responsibility as community resilience
A strong city is one where no one is left behind.
Through partnerships with welfare departments and aid organizations, we support residents facing hardship in accessing their rights and rebuilding their lives. We act as a bridge between vulnerable populations and institutions, while also providing immediate socio-economic assistance—improving food security, supporting families who have lost their livelihoods (often in contexts of discrimination), and supplying essential needs for infants and young children.
Our work focuses especially on marginalized populations at heightened risk during times of crisis.
Community resilience is measured by the ability to sustain trust during periods of tension.
We have strengthened personal safety through the establishment of a joint Arab-Jewish civic patrol in collaboration with partner organizations from Jaffa and across Israel. The patrol supports residents experiencing fear and works toward de-escalation of tensions, based on the belief that a shared presence on the ground is key to preventing escalation during times of crisis.
The conference will take place annually as a full international conference, serving as a key milestone in evaluating Jaffa’s progress as a shared city.
It will be built on broad partnerships between civil society organizations, the Tel Aviv–Jaffa Municipality, and academic institutions, jointly leading processes of measurement, learning, and policy implementation.
The academic component will support the development of tools for evaluating shared society, while the municipality will play a key role in implementation on the ground. By connecting knowledge, policy, and community action, the conference will become a driving force in positioning Jaffa as a global model for mixed cities.
The conference structure will include plenary sessions, diverse panels, and facilitated working groups—ensuring both conceptual depth and practical continuity. Unlike one-time events, the conference will function as a working platform: presenting metrics, processes, and outcomes, alongside defining goals for the year ahead.
improving formal and informal quality education
In collaboration with academic institutions and schools, we open doors for the younger generation and equip them with tools to succeed and lead. Education is the bridge we build toward opportunity, fulfillment, and social mobility. We work to reduce educational parity , enhance the sense of belonging to the school and the community, and deepening learning of democratic values.
The organization operates a shared community garden for at-risk youth and the broader community, serving as a social hub and meeting place for Jaffa’s diverse populations.
Jaffa is built by people who choose to act.
We invite you to join a growing network of residents, activists, and partners who believe that partnership is not just a word it is a way of life.
