The Right to Housing: An anchor of belonging and security.
We protect Jaffa’s social fabric by advocating for the rights of residents living in “absentee properties.” For more than seven decades, families have built their lives and community in these homes, but current laws now require them to either purchase the property from the state or face displacement. As housing costs in the area have climbed out of reach, these homes have become unaffordable for the people living in them. We work with legal experts, institutional actors and community coalitions to push for a fair, practical framework that allows residents to buy their homes at reachable prices. Our advocacy has already successfully led to a freeze of all evictions, ensuring that our community can stay in their homes with dignity.

Jaffa’s heritage is a rich mosaic of communities, generations, and stories. We believe that only through a deep understanding of Jaffa’s diverse past a genuine partnership will be built.
